Police seek public's help in North Amityville shooting

The Suffolk County Police Department First Squad Detectives are seeking the assistance of the public in the investigation of two separate shootings in the North Amityville area where a total of five individuals were shot, including an eight year old boy.

In the first incident, on August 12, 2006 at about 5:40 a.m. police were called to the scene of a large party in the area of 736 Bayview Avenue, North Amityville when a gunfight broke out. Antonio Copeland, age 22, of Offaly Street, North Amityville was wounded in the left leg by an unknown assailant. Byron Pendarvis, age 22, of County Line Road, Amityville was shot in the right hand. Both subjects were taken to hospitals prior to police arrival.

In the second incident a party at 213 Washington Avenue, North Amityville was ongoing when shots again were fired. Shot in the left arm and jaw was Walter Bolden, 33, of Washington Avenue, Amityville. Jarron Collins, age 22, of Great Neck Road, North Amityville was shot in the left leg. A third subject, eight year old Maki Morton, of Chestnut Road, North Amityville was shot in the right foot.

First Squad Detectives are seeking people who may have witnessed any of these two separate shooting incidents. There were a large number of individuals present at both locations at the time of the shooting incidents. At this time the two incidents are not believed to be related, although the locations are within the same community.
