ATA hosts annual awards program

On Monday May 8, the Amityville Teachers Association hosted its annual Awards and Scholarship Program at Edmund W. Miles Middle School. The annual event recognizes student achievment in grades K through 12, in writing, math, art, music, journalism and overall excellence. The teachers host various fund raising events to fund their scholarship program. Over $6,000 was awarded in prizes and scholarships to the students.

Below, Amityville High school Social Worker and track coach Reynolds Hawkins who received the New York State United Teachers Lifelife Award at the convention in Rochester for his quick thinking and reacting to a life threatening situation concerning one of the members of his track team.
