Finding Nemo in Copiague

2006-07-05 / Front Page

The second graders in Kathy Hadler's class at Great Neck Elementary School in Copiague recently got a visit from some underwater creatures. As part of a partnership among Assemblyman Robert K. Sweeney, the Long Island Reef Association, and the Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead, Hadler's class received an aquarium filled with exotic fish and plants to observe and study.

"It has been a wonderful learning tool for the students," stated Hadler. "They're researching the individual fish and their natural habitats. They're marine biologists in training!"

"It is a great opportunity for the students to have a hands-on learning experience. I'm glad I get to be a part of it," said Assemblyman Sweeney.
