Ryan Lindner honored

Since 2003 Ryan Lindner, an 8th-grader from Copiague Middle School who suffers from Juvenile Diabetes, has been trying to raise public awareness about his condition. He’s met with public officials to ask that funds be set aside for research and has requested Diabetes Awareness be incorporated into the NYS Middle School Health Curriculum. In the photo, Ryan met with NYS Assemblyman Bob Sweeney on the subject during October.

Juvenile Diabetes or Type I diabetes has no cure, and children are faced with multiple daily blood tests and insulin injections to stay alive.
