North Amityville Fire Department volunteers rushed to the scene of a car fire that occurred shortly afer 3:30 p.m., August 22 in the northbound lane of Route 110 and Nathalie Avenue. Vamps made a quick stop of the fire, which took place about 60 feet from the gasoline pumps of the Millenium Gasoline Station. "The volunteers did a great job of protecting he public by putting themselves at risk to prevent a very dangerous situation," said 2nd Assistant Chief Vince McCloud. Third Assistant Chief Tim Lay was in charge at the scene.
