Copiague Board of Education holds Student Recognition Awards Night

2005-03-24 / Schools/Sports

Hard work and determination were the themes of the night for the Semi-Annual Copiague Board of Education Student Recognition Awards Night. Students throughout the district were selected to receive the distinguished recognition after a teacher, administrator, or a staff member nominated them.

"We are very proud of our students and everything they have accomplished," stated Dr. Laurence W. Aronstein, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, as he welcomed the students and their guests.

The students recognized were chosen for their many outstanding accomplishments, athletic and musical abilities, and exceptional character traits. One middle school student was honored for the work he has done to support Juvenile Diabetes research. Another student continuously overcomes physical disabilities and language barriers to succeed in his schoolwork. A common denominator for all students recognized was their dedication. While the students display their dedication and commitment to succeed in different ways they all serve as role models for students in the Copiague School District.

The students honored are: From Deauville Gardens Elementary School is Sage Cofone; from Great Neck Road Elementary School are Alexii Burkett-Asson, Kristina Freitag, Sarah Jordan and Juanyer Taveras; from Susan E. Wiley Elementary School is Alexis Saxton; from Copiague Middle School are Samantha Norman, Ryan Lindner, Arthur Mack and Holly Silva and from Walter O’Connell Copiague High School are Nikken Fauntleroy, Sacajewans Idlett, Elida Martinez, Shannon Roethel, Lissette Marmol and Tiffany Eng.

Along with the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. William R. Bolton, the Copiague Board of Education highlighted student accomplishments at the Semi-Annual Board of Education Student Recognition Awards Night.
