Pro’s to building the West Side Stadium

Dear Editor:

For months now the proposed West Side Stadium pros and cons have been making the television, radio and newspaper headlines. According to a Newsday article February 17, the New York Association for Better Choices claim that the majority of New Yorkers are opposed to the 600 million dollar price tag in public funds to build the stadium.

Where is the pride of New Yorkers? New York City boasts to be the tourist, financial and sports capitol of the world - and can’t build a new stadium. Cities across the United States have recently built new stadiums - Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Chicago, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, to name a few.

People tend to forget that the Jets are kicking in the majority of the building costs. A new stadium would be the scene of other events such as the Olympic Games, local college and high school football and soccer games. And, with the retractable roof, New York would be a contender for the Super Bowl. Concerts by performers that draw many more fans than Madison Square Garden would hold, etc. Then realize how many other people would benefit, all the construction workers, vendors and businesses in the stadium area.

Come on New York get behind your Mayor and keep in step with the rest of the cities in this great country.

Build the West Side Stadium.
