Amityville PBA donates to Children of Hope Foundation

Nassau County Police A.M.T. Tim Jaccard accepts a check from Amityville Police Benevolent Association President Sgt. Ernie Thompson. The check is to benefit the Children of Hope Foundation.

Amityville Police Officers recently participated in the funeral services for Baby Nicholas Hope, a baby abandoned by his mother in a used clothing bin in Massapequa. The baby was discovered by workers sorting clothing in an Amityville warehouse. "Baby Nicholas touched the hearts of so many people," said Jaccard who is president of the Children of Hope Foundation.

Jaccard went on to say, " in the past five years, 46 states have passed legislation that designates specific locations as safe places for desperate parents to relinquish their unharmed newborns safely, legally and anonymously. The support of the Amityville PBA has enabled us to continue our programs to prevent the abandonment of newborn infants and help the birth mothers through their crisis."

The Crisis Hotline for the Children of Hope is 877-796-HOPE.
