The Amityville Police Department took part in a counter terrorism program held November 14 at the State University of New York at Farmingdale. The exercise, challenged and evaluated various law enforcement agencies in Nassau and Suffolk to work together in a mock event of terrorism.

the simulation featured responses from elite tactical units as well as state police. Officials and representatives from t he Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the University were on hand.

According to Amityville Police Chief Woodrow Cromarty the training is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to have Amityville’s Police Officers fully prepared to respond to incidents of terrorism if and wherever they occur.

"The local police and fire departments are the first responders in all emergencies, which makes this type of training extremely important to us," said Cromarty.
