The final celebration of Homecoming Weekend was the sixth annual Hall of Achievement Induction Ceremony. Board of Education President Mildred Browne, Board Trustees, Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Bolton, administrators, friends and family members were on hand to honor this year’s inductees Tiffany N. Adams - Class of 1988, John A. Cuiffo - Class of 1979 and Adriana Richard Ludgate (nee Cano) - Class of 1951.

Guidance Chairman Dr. Louis J. Bamonte served as the evening’s master of ceremonies and invited everyone to think back to the time when putting on rubber rain boots was a challenge to be mastered. "Are you a boot-up person?," inquired Dr. Bamonte. "When you were struggling, was there someone there guiding you and giving you encouragement?"  While most people were unfamiliar with the expression, by the end of the evening its meaning was quite clear.

Throughout the evening Dr. Bamonte reflected on the many outstanding accomplishments of the three newest members of the Hall of Achievement and how they continue to serve as role models for students passing through the halls of Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. "Tonight’s inductees pushed themselves to the limit and then pulled others along with them. They are true boot-up people who lead and inspire others achieve success."

Superintendent of Schools Dr. William R. Bolton spoke about the important roles the inductees play in the school community. "Students are always reading the plaques and aspiring to be on the wall," stated Dr. Bolton. "You are the role models we want our students to emulate."
