•Certified financial planner Brian Vail will be at the library after the senior movie, Wednesday, October 16, 2 to 3 p.m. He will discuss preserving the value of your estate, assessing long-term care costs and how you can maintain your financial independence in your latter years. A question and answer period will follow his discussion.

•A jury duty seminar will be given, Thursday, October 17, 7:30 to 9 p.m. A representative from the Suffolk County Court System will be on hand to discuss the procedure for serving on jury duty and to answer all of your questions.

•A musical tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers will be held Sunday, October 20, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Jack Schnur will give a presentation celebrating these two remarkable entertainers. Schnur will discuss their early careers and the legacy they left, through rare slides and recordings.

Topics include home health care options, staying independent and how to protect your assets from a nursing home stay. The need for long-term care insurance will be addressed.
