Amity runners, walkers and wheelchair
racers invited to "Fly with Angels" run
Amityville runners walkers and wheelchair athletes of all ages and levels of ability are invited to sign up for the third annual Fly With the Angels Four Mile Run, Saturday, October 12, which this year, for the first time held in Eisenhower Park.
Join in for the four-mile race and for the Lunch By The Bay that follows, an all-you-can-eat barbecue with all the trimmings including the best new brews from the Blue Point Brewery. The lunch is free to all participants and volunteers. There will be a big raffle with a grand prize of a night in Manhattan, featuring show tickets, hotel accommodations and limousine service.
The four mile run will start at exactly 10:30 a.m. by the Eisenhower Park Fieldhouse and will be preceded by a one quarter mile fun run for Junior Angels age 12 and under.
Awards in the four mile run will be presented to the top male and female finishers overall, the top three male and female wheelchair finishers, the top three male and female open and masters racewalkers, the top three male and female finishers in each of 14 five-year age groups commencing at 14 and under and running through 75 and older and the top three male and female finishers in each of two Clydesdale weight divisions.
Every registrant in the four mile run will be presented with a top quality commemorative shirt and every finisher in the one quarter fun run will receive a special medal.
The entry fee is $17 for the four miler and $6 for the fun run for those who preregister through October 11 and $20 for the four miler and $7 for the fun run for those who wait until the day of the run to sign up at Eisenhower Park. Preregistration will also be available at The Runner’s Edge in Farmingdale between noon and 5 p.m. on Friday, October 11.
