As part of Copiague School District’ Reading is Fundamental Program, students at Deauville Gardens Elementary School took time from their busy day to enjoy reading a good book.

The playground and school yard were filled with students and staff quietly engrossed in fairy tales and fiction as they sat side-by-side reading their newly distributed books.

As one way to develop a life-long love of reading, the students receive a free book to read, share and discuss with their classmates and teachers several times throughout the year.

In the picture, as part of the Copiague School District’s Reading is Fundamental Program, students in Karen Woodburn’s first-grade class each received a new book.
