Bernard M. Erlwein, 75-year resident of Amityville

Bernard M. Erlwein, a 75-year resident of Amityville, died June 28, 2002 at Brunswick Hospital, Amityville.

Mr. Erlwein served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946 earning a Purple Heart. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post #1015.

Mr. Erlwein was predeceased by his wife Mary Lou in December of 1988. Survivors include his siblings, Muriel Singleton, of Smart, Florida; Shirley E. Capshaw of Amityville; Norman A. Erlwein, of Sebastian, Florida and Michael J. Erlwein of Massapequa. He is also survived by his stepson Theodore Schmidlapp of California, nieces and nephews.

The Reverend Father Randolph John Geminder, Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church said a funeral service at the Powell Funeral Home, 67, Broadway, Amityville on Thursday, July 11, 2002 followed by interment in the family plot at the Amityville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Powell Funeral Home.
