Samuel Goldstein, 54-year resident of Amityville
Samuel Goldstein, a 54-year resident of Amityville, died July 5, 2002 at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset. He was born in Winnipeg, Canada January 15, 1913.
Mr. Goldstein was a member of the Amityville Library Board and was instrumental in the construction planning for the new library. He taught English at SUNY Farmingdale and mentored for the Small Business Administration. Mr. Goldstein also volunteered his services to The United Way organization.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Florence M. Goldstein; a son, Mark of Menlo Park, California, his daughters, Rachel of Metuchen, New Jersey and Judith Friedman of Brooklyn and four grandchildren.
Rabbi Melinda Panken said a funeral service at the Powell Funeral Home, 67 Broadway, Amityville on Monday, July 8, 2002 followed by interment in Beth Moses Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Powell Funeral Home.
