Letters Celebrate the Fourth with common sense and responsibility
Next week is the Fourth of July, and we urge all residents to get out and attend the annual parade in their community.
Remember, also, that if you host or attend a party or barbecue and decide to imbibe, please don’t drink and drive. And, keep a tab on your friends and relatives who celebrate at your home. Don’t send them out onto the roads intoxicated.
Finally watch your children and do not allow them to purchase or use fireworks. Every year, our local emergency rooms are filled with people in need of treatment because they have been burnt or worse from fireworks.
Most of all, take a moment to remember the contributions of the veterans and others who have given so much to honor and defend this country, a country born in rebellion and raised to the highest standards of justice, human dignity and freedom. Cheer them on curbide during the parade and then say a prayer for them and for their families.
