Army Spec. Pierra K. Poteau has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The Medal is awarded to soldiers who have served in any capacity in a noncombat area authorized by the Secretary of the Army. The recipients must distinguish themselves by meritorious service or achievement and accomplish the act with distinction. Poteau is a fighting vehicle infantryman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry at Camp Casey, Tonduchon-Up, South Korea.

He is the husband of Germanie B. Poteau of Amityville.
