Being involved in one's community and making sure children are our number one priority is what Kiwanis and Town of Babylon Councilman Steve Bellone are all about. As such, a perfect match came together with the recent induction of Steve Bellone into the Kiwanis Club of Copiague. Councilman Bellone was sponsored by Dr. Bill Bolton after he expressed his interest in becoming an active club member. Councilman Bellone follows a long tradition of town officials who have been Kiwanians, starting with former Supervisor Arthur Pitts and continuing with the current Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer. Seventeen members of Col. Gilbert Potter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution traveled on pilgrimage to the Gibson-Mack-Holt house in Bay Shore this past month. The newly elected president of the Bay Shore Historical Society, Robert Balletta escorted the ladies on a guided tour of the house. The past president, Frank Manhardt showed a video telling the story of the home built in 1820. The house has been completely reconditioned and restored for the public to enjoy and is open to the public Tuesdays and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 22 Maple Ave., Bay Shore. More...
