Seventeen members of Col. Gilbert Potter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution traveled on pilgrimage to the Gibson-Mack-Holt house in Bay Shore this past month. The newly elected president of the Bay Shore Historical Society, Robert Balletta escorted the ladies on a guided tour of the house. The past president, Frank Manhardt showed a video telling the story of the home built in 1820. The house has been completely reconditioned and restored for the public to enjoy and is open to the public Tuesdays and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 22 Maple Ave., Bay Shore. More ... The 24th annual Doppy Open Golf Tournament sponsored by the Tobay Beach lifeguards was held recently at the Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead. More ... Mrs. William Shave, president of the Mary P. Myton Literary Society, was also hostess for the opening meeting of the club. She was assisted by Mrs. Peter Crichton, Miss Dorothy DeBevoise, and Mrs. Barbara Holmquest-Gatz. More ... The first annual pumpkin hunt sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fire Department will be held October 27, 4 to 6 p.m. at Peterkid Park. Two hundred pumpkins will be available on a first come, first served basis. Markers will be provided for decorating the pumpkins. Light refreshments will also be served. For information call Pat Bonser at 631-598-0220. More ... An 88th birthday was held August 26 for Steve Dorsey at his home in Amityville and was a welcome family reunion. The festivities included family members sharing old pictures and relating their childhood antics. There was also a questionnaire given to each guest entitled Do You Know Your Family? which lead to many humorous answers. More ... Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Dolores Ambrose were married on June 22, 2001. The service was held at Bellmore Community Church, Pastor Jason Spray and Rev.
