The 24th annual Doppy Open Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, September 29 at the Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead beginning 10:30 a.m. followed by a cocktail hour and dinner.

The event is sponsored by the Tobay lifeguards and is named in honor of the late George Doherty, who was affectionately known at Doppy. Doppy was the former captain of the lifeguards and a wrestling coach at Berner High School.

Money raised in the tournament will go to a college scholarship for a senior wrestler at Massapequa High School. Further information may be obtained by calling Jim Nordland at 563-3496.
