Choral group to perform

Twin Shores Chorus will present two free concerts in early August in final preparation for their trip to St. Petersburg, Russia later in August.

Sponsored by the Bay Shore/Brightwaters Public Library, the Twinshoresmen will perform at the Dr. King Bandshell, Main Street and Park Avenue South in Bay Shore, Thursday, August 2, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The following Thursday, August 9 will find them at the Chapin Bandshell, Main Street and Prime Avenue, Huntington Village. The concert, sponsored by the Huntington Arts Council, will begin 8:30 p.m. Both concerts will also feature quartets from the chorus.

Invited by the Russia Ministry of Culture, the chorus will be performing at a number of the storied concert halls of the beautiful city of St. Petersburg and nearby Pavlovsk. In addition, they will be conducting master classes for Russian singers interested in learning the distinction barbershop style. Concerts are scheduled for Cappella Hall, August 16; Sosnovy Bor, August 17; Pavlovsk Palace Concert, August 19; the Grand Philharmonic Hall, August 20 and at Peterhof Palace on August 20.

Participation in this third annual barbershop harmony festival is another feather in the caps of Twin Shores Chorus, which has been steadily improving in numbers and quality, factors in their selection to perform in Russia this. The Twin Shoresmen rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Babylon Town Office Annex, Phelps Lane, North Babylon.
