Ann C. Fischer, former Amityville resident and owner of Fischer’s Confectionery Ann C. Fischer, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and formerly of Amityville, died April 17, 2001 at the age of 85. She is predeceased by her husband Oscar Fischer. Surviving Mrs. Fischer are her sisters, Jennie Danella and Rose Vilela; her nieces Dolores McGowan and Theresa Bennett and her stepson Donald Fischer. Mrs. Fischer was born in New York City and resided in Amityville for many years. She and her late husband Oscar owned and operated Fischer’s Confectionery store, a well-known Amityville landmark. Many old time Amityville residents remember the soda fountain and delicious ice cream enjoyed by many teenage youngsters. By occupation, Mrs. Fischer was a practical nurse, always caring for the needy. Before her death in Florida, where she resided for 30 years, she always had a soft spot in her heart for Amityville. A prayer service was said at the D’Andrea Brothers Funeral Home, 99 Oak St., Copiague by Rev. Father Thomas J. McCarthy who also conducted interment prayer services at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Saturday, April 21 with family and friends attending. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of D’Andrea Brothers Funeral Home. |
