Lewis F. Phillips, 89, of Copiague

When Lewis F. Phillips’ first wife died, he was left with three children to raise alone. It was the Depression and times were hard.

"My father worked three jobs to keep a roof over our heads and put food on the table," said Dolores Phillips, his daughter. "He was a very loving father who always cared for his family.

Lewis F. Phillips, a resident of Copiague for 21 years, died April 6, 2001. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Phillips was retired from the Pfizer Pharmaceutical company. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing in the Great South Bay and was a self-made craftsman in woodworking.

In addition to his daughter Dolores of Copiague, Mr. Phillips is survived by his other children, Lewis J. and his wife Loretta of Queens; Ronald and his wife Rita of South Carolina and Janice McDonald and her husband John of St. Lucie, Florida. His grandchildren: Ronald, Mark, James and Karen Phillips and Lewis and John McDonald also survive him as do four great grandchildren.

His second wife Anastacia Phillips predeceased him.

A prayer service for Mr. Phillips was held at the D’Andrea Brothers Funeral Home, Oak Street, Copiague with Rev. David Anglin of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amityville officiating. Rev. Anglin also said interment prayers at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn.
