Wayne E. Friedrich, 46, a resident of Amityville for the past ten years, died at his home September 25, 2000. Born in queens, New York, August 2, 1954, he had been employed as a Code Enforcer for Nassau County for the past 21 years. He was also a 25 year member and Ex-Captain for the Jericho Fire Department, serving in Company # 2. At the time of his death, Mr. Friedrich was serving as Department Treasurer, a position he had held for the past ten years. He also taught fire prevention courses in the Jericho Schools, as well as in the fire department itself. He was a lover of animals and an avid Nascar racing buff.

Survivors include his wife of the past ten years, Alice D.; his parents, Edward and Jacqueline Friedrich of Jericho; his mother-in-law Angela Tomasone of Amityville,; a sister, Gwen Friedrich of Jericho; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Del Tomasone of Amity Harbor and John and Lorraine Lawrence of Seneca, South Carolina. A niece and nephew, Charlene and Joseph Tomasone, also survive him.

The Jericho Fire Department held services Thursday evening, September 28, 2000 at the Powell funeral Home, Broadway, Amityville. Following that the Rev. Monsignor Robert Saccacio, pastor of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, Amityville, conducted a prayer service. The fire department provided honor guards for the visiting hours and services.

Private cremation was held at the L.I. Cremation Company, West Babylon Friday morning, September 29, 2000.
