Doris W. Beierling, a resident of Amityville for the past 36 years, died January 27, 2000 at her home at the age of 70. Born in Elmira, New York on April 3, 1929, Mrs. Beierling operated her own business, Book and Wood Classics, from her home for the past 12 years. As a member of First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Beierling was active in the Ladies Aide Group, a Sunday school teacher, an advisor for M.Y.F. and volunteered at the Church Attic thrift shop. She was also a member of the Amityville Woman’s Club. Her husband, George to whom she had been married for 38 years survives, as do her children, Christopher M. of Farmingdale, Catherine L. Biegler of Bay Shore and three grandchildren, Stephanie Curci, Carolyn and Edgar Biegler III. A sister, Marion Stout, predeceased her.

The Reverend A. Erik Rasmussen of First United Methodist Church conducted the funeral service at the Powell Funeral Home, 67 Broadway, Amityville. A private cremation took place at the Long Island Cremation Co., Inc., West Babylon. Arrangements were under the direction of the Powell Funeral Home.
