Michael Benedetto, U.S. Marine

Michael Angelo Benedetto Jr. died while doing something he loved—riding his motorcycle. Former Lance Corporal Benedetto died suddenly September 4, 2005. He was 37 years old.

Born in Amityville, Mr. Benedetto He grew up in Lindenhurst. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years as a Lance Corporal and worked as a funeral director for O’Shea Funeral Home in Wantagh for the past six years.

His family said he loved to spend time with his family and was an avid body builder.

"He was an adventurous person," said his brother, Vito. "On Sundays we liked to go cycling together."

Mr. Benedetto leaves behind his mother, Annemarie (nee Maffei); his siblings: Vito and his wife Erica, Maria Torres and her husband Tony, Gina George and Annemarie. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Danielle, Amanda, Alyssa, Gianna, Isabella, Christopher, Nicholas, David, Sean and Gregory. He is predeceased by his father, Michael Angelo Benedetto, Sr.

Mr. Benedetto reposed at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh at September 7, 2005. Internment followed at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
