•On Saturday, June 22, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. lyric soprano Effie Apelast Weinberg will perform a selection of opera pieces and show tunes that have been delighting audiences across Long Island and in the metropolitan area. Registration is for Program No. 441.

•On Sunday, June 23, 2 to 3:30 p.m. the Seasoned Steppers will perform all your favorite song and dance numbers in the the grand style they’re famous for. Registration is for Program no. 442.

•Photojournalist Tim Atwell will show you how to get the most out of your pictures on Tuesday, June 25, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Some of the topics covered will be how we judge photographs, image versus reality and photography as self-expression. The slide show will feature some of the most famous photographs in history. Required registration is for Program No. 443.

•Louise DeNaro Bender will offer a slide presentation Wednesday, June 26, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on organic gardening and the healing plants of India. The lecture will include an exploration of the sacred, medicinal, cosmetic and/or culinary properties and powers of herbs, how to embrace organic gardening and her experiences traveling ;through India to increase her knowledge in this ancient art. Registration is for Program No. 444.

•The Amityville Public Library is offering its annual summer reading program for young adults in grades six through twelve as of September. Registration begins Friday, June 21. The theme for the program is Survival in the Wilderness. Prizes will be awarded.
