Mary P. Myton Literary Society holds opening meeting

Mrs. William Shave, president of the Mary P. Myton Literary Society, was also hostess for the opening meeting of the club. She was assisted by Mrs. Peter Crichton, Miss Dorothy DeBevoise, and Mrs. Barbara Holmquest-Gatz.

The members observed a moment of silence for the victims of September 11th and departed member Dorothy Corwin.

Amy Haye, a June graduate of Amityville High School, was awarded a dictionary, a thesaurus and a book of quotations for her high scholarship.

Mrs. Shave read a poem entitled I Am A Veteran. Sue Martinson was introduced as a new member.

The program for the day was entitled What I Read On My Summer Vacation. Participants reviewed books that were read giving negative and positive views.
